Western
Kentucky Regional Blood Center began conducting the "Vein
Drain" event in 1995. Since its inception it has become
one of the staffs, favorite events. What is a "Vein
Drain"? It is the only time donors are allowed to call the
phlebotomists vampires and get away with it! At first the
staff wore Halloween sweatshirts and jeans, now we dress
up in our favorite Halloween costumes and donors enjoy
trying to figure it out.

We
treat our donors to goodie bags complete with candies,
coupons, and ~ safety tips for Halloween. The donors
appreciate the little extra things we do such as
complimentary br
eakfast and lunch.
We serve pork-burgers
and chips with all the fixings for lunch and local bakery
donates doughnuts and rolls for breakfast. The event is
one of the most enjoyable functions for the staff and
donors. This years Halloween "Vein Drain" will be held
Friday, October 31, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
