On June
14th, 15th, and 16th, 2005 WKRBC Owensboro hosted their
5th Annual Summer
Kick-Off, "Pump Up the Volume". "Pump Up the Volume"
is designed to draw 300 blood donors in 3 days during the
most critical period of typical summer blood
shortages for our center. Over the past 5 years we
have set various goals for the event but all said
teams are developed to include a diverse donor base from
areas we typically do not tap. The result is a three day
fun filled adventure for donors and staff alike. Hourly
door prizes are donated by our local merchants and
represent the true generosity of our community.
Ultimately, 281 blood donors flooded our center, ensuring
our western Kentucky hospitals and patients the
blood would be available if needed. Snaps to all who
participated!
This year marks the first "Pump up the Volume " Blood
Drive for the WKRBC Hopkinsville Center. Much like
the original, this event is planned at a time when meeting
blood demands remain critical for our center.
Various groups and organizations are recruited to form
teams and bring the donors in! The H5C Center housed
the event on July 27th and 28th, 2005. Hopkinsville's PUV
yielded an additional 244 blood donors who turned
out to help meet the blood demands of our western Kentucky
hospitals and patients. Again, thanks to all who
participated.
